Who is this guy?

Polymonkey is the alias and website of Matt Ditton. Ditton is an artist who is always at conflict with his media. When he completed his Bachelor in Photography in 1998 he became famous for being the only photographer to graduate without taking photos. Opting instead to manufacture his reality with 3d software, and then print them out photographically so that people didn't freak out too much.

After a brief stint in online advertising. (It's a long and painful story) Ditton landed a job in the art department of Australian games company Krome Studios. At the time he was employee number 8 but that was five years ago and now there's about 140. The paper folding experiment and the modelling of the Sierpinski Cube cemented his position as a weird scary idiot. And he swiftly rose to the position of Lead Artist.

At the same time Ditton has been committed to continually expand his photographic work. In the middle of June 2004, between being lead artist on TY2 and going to Los Angeles to pimp TY2, Ditton had his first solo exhibition at Gallery 482. It was met with great critical success and wonderful financial failure. To quote a conversation at the time.

"Well Van Gogh didn't sell anything while he was alive"

"Yes but he hacked of his ear lobe to give to a prostitute. Not really a fair comparison"
